Job Description:
At Clean Harbors, we are seeking a highly skilled and
enthusiastic Data Governance Manager to join our dynamic team to
lead/develop this overall program. You will be leveraging your
knowledge of Data best practices along with your expertise in Data
Management to ensure we deliver high quality data to power
strategic initiatives for the organization. This role is pivotal in
developing strategies that will transform our approach to data,
particularly in the realm of Cloud data transformation.
You will collaborate with global cross-functional teams, including
business and technology partners and stakeholders to maximize the
value of our commercial data. You will play a key role in
modernizing the management of our Clean Harbors data assets and
implementing an inspirational Data Governance program. You will
build the Data Stewardship program by providing guidance and
support for Clean Harbors data stewards to ensure alignment and
consistency within our Data Governance practices. You will help
drive key data components including strategy, roadmap, services,
and tooling for Data Management functions like data security, data
privacy, data policies and data sharing.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a data governance framework- policies,
procedures, and standards for managing the organization's data
assets. Collaborate with domain owners to implement enterprise
level data management and governance policies and standards within
Clean Harbors.
- Promote and manage data lineage; to capture the end-to-end flow
of data from enterprise and 3rd party data sources into internal
systems and reports.
- Create and enforce data retention policies that define how long
data should be kept and how it should be disposed of.
- Design and implement data classification policies based on data
sensitivity, criticality, and regulatory requirements.
- Data Security and Privacy Controls: Manage data security and
privacy controls.
- Ensure data compliance with regulatory guidelines such as GDPR,
CCPA, and HIPAA.
- Develop and support a community of Clean Harbors Data Stewards
by creating internal specific Data Governance frameworks, operating
models, training materials and scorecards. Ensure data quality and
data privacy by ensuring compliance with relevant laws and
regulations and working with various departments to identify and
mitigate data quality issues.
- Collaborate with stakeholders in IT, management, and other
stakeholders to align data initiatives with business goals.
- Lead data governance meetings and communicate data standards to
the team and provide training on data governance best practices
across the organization.
- Provide consulting to internal business and product owners on
Data Management practices such as data security, data quality, data
sharing, meta data, reference data and master data.
- Become an expert on Clean Harbors data sources, data needs,
user access security, data policies and data sharing standards
across our data assets.
- Lead and mentor the rest of the Data Management and Governance
team.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in information systems, data analytics,
data management, data policy development, or a similar field is
typically required.
- 10+ years' experience working in IT industry with 5+ years'
experience with leading and building data governance practices,
including data governance program lifecycles.
- In-depth knowledge of data management concepts and practices
such as data security, data quality, meta data, reference data,
master data. data domains.
- Knowledge of data modeling concepts and ability to interpret
data modeling diagrams.
- Understanding of privacy, risk, compliance and regulatory
concerns and ability to articulate the impact to partners and
stakeholders.
- Expertise in data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power
BI is often preferred.
- Experience with Data management tools like Purview, Collibra,
Atlassian Atlas etc. Familiarity with Azure data tools especially
Purview and databases, is highly desirable.
- Extensive database experience: A strong background in database
management, including experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, is
essential.
- Experience working in Big Data repositories.
- Familiarity with Agile project methodology and tools such as
Rally/Jira
- Project Management experience and Microsoft Project

- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with
team members and stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal
communication, capacity to articulate complex data management
solutions in a clear, concise way to a non-technical audience.
- Strong attention to detail with a relentless focus on
delivering accurately, efficiently, and with high quality.
- Proven track record of thought leadership and influencing,
collaborating with cross-functional teams to produce measurable
results.
- Confident taking on high importance initiatives that are
ambiguous in nature, driving them to completion with minimal
supervision and demonstrating a sense of ownership.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.
