starts here.Manager of Locomotive EngineersThe purpose of this role
is to provide managerial leadership to specified locomotive
engineers and student locomotive engineers to ensure delivery of
agreed operational deliverables to the highest standards of
professionalism and safety, and employee satisfaction and
retention. Provide the delivery of a safe, punctual and reliable
operation on a specific line or lines of Route, working with
colleagues across Keolis to strive for consistent high standards of
customer service and efficient operation. Also, to develop and
nurture constructive manager-direct report relationships with
direct reports to improve employee satisfaction and employee
engagement, as well as working relationships with union
representatives to ensure a constructive working
environment.Knowledge and Skills:

improvement.Experience:
- Requires Locomotive Engineer certification; must be a qualified
locomotive engineer with a valid Class 1 Locomotive Engineer's
License and no record of decertification.
- Strongly prefer a combination of relevant, position-related
experiences, training and education.
- Requires a minimum of 5 years' experience interpreting
operating and safety rules.
- Must have basic skills in use of MS Office package including
Outlook.
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written skills.
- Ability to communicate successfully with a variety of different
disciplines and levels including both internal and external
staff.
- Demonstrated capability in providing managerial leadership to
direct reports.
- Demonstrated capability in planning and delivering improvements
over a 3 to 12 months' timeframe.
- Prefer prior experience hiring, supervising, and evaluating the
work of direct and indirect reports.Key Accountabilities:

- Develop and successfully implement an up to 3 to 12-month
business plan for assigned area of accountability and meet agreed
deliverables and associated timelines and Key Performance
Indicators (e.g., safety, customer satisfaction, operational
excellence).
- Provide managerial leadership to assigned Locomotive Engineers,
and ensure the safe operations, optimal on-time performance, and
efficient operation. This includes providing individual coaching,
development, holding direct reports to account, and providing
managerial support.
- Ensure the delivery of agreed performance on allocated lines of
route by administering collective bargaining agreements as
required, enforcing personal protective equipment standards,
facilitating courteous and respectful customer interactions, and
revenue collection requirements.
- Collaborate with the Senior Route Managers and with the
Mechanical and Engineering departments, to develop, implement, and
monitor operational practices to ensure optimal service delivery
while ensuring a safe and productive environment for employees and
the public.
- Ensure effective working relationships with Route Managers in
their role of leading and managing Conductors and Assistant
Conductors, and with the Mechanical and Engineering departments
with the chief objective of providing optimal service
delivery.
- Assist in the training and competency of the Engineers
including observation rides, administration of physical
characteristics training, federal testing, drug and alcohol
observations and random testing of employees, and train
performance.
- Accountable for assuming charging officer responsibilities and
formal discipline.
- Ensure compliance of self and direct reports with all related
safety rules, procedures, operating rules, Federal regulations, and
report all hazards as required; Attend and participate in all
assigned training, specifically, rules, safety, and security.
- Escalate appropriate operational and personnel issues including
cancellations, equipment levels, and major rules violations to
Senior Manager of Locomotive Engineers, Manager of Terminal
Operations, and/or Chief Transportation Officer as necessary.
- Investigate Accidents / Incidents and prepare required reports,
as well as assisting in the investigation of customer complaints in
an unbiased approach.
- Identify and coordinate with Operational Planning Team on
opportunities to improve reliability and address schedule
deficiencies, and coordinate with operations centers and chief
train dispatchers during service disruptions and to plan for
special event services.
- Ensure effective working relationship with counterparts at MBTA
/ CSX / Mass Coastal / AMTRAK operations within set contexts.
- Meet local stakeholders and customers to address their concerns
about local service delivery issues.
- Consult the Senior Manager of Locomotive Engineers and Chief
Transportation Officer with selecting, assigning, evaluating, and
scheduling the training of new-hire engineers while ensuring
compliance with KCS equal employment policies.
- Other duties as assigned during emergencies.Additional
