Academic AdvisorThe Opportunity Lesley University is seeking an
Academic Advisor to join our organization. The Academic Advisor
plays a crucial role in fostering student success and ensuring that
students have a rewarding educational experience. The Academic
Advisor supports students with their academic plans and progress,
academic schedule, choice of major, and career goals.They will
advise students individually, or in groups, regarding department
requirements, appropriate class selection, policies, and campus
resources, to ensure students meet the requirements for graduation.
In this capacity, the Academic Advisor assists in helping students
have better academic performance, increased retention rates, and a
more fulfilling university experience.The Academic Advisor will
likewise assist with degree audits, maintain advising records and
confidential student evaluations in Colleague, and advise special
student populations such as transfer students, undeclared majors,
first generation, and students on probation. This position requires
considerable contact with students and therefore requires
demonstrated skills and abilities in cultural competency, equity,
diversity, inclusion, and social justice.Qualities and
CapabilitiesBachelor's degree in Education, Counseling or related
field (required); Master's degree (preferred)2-4+ years of
experience in advising or related student-facing academic function
within higher educationDemonstrated knowledge about academic
programs, policies, procedures, and student support
servicesDemonstrated ability to interpret student needs and provide
individualized service and assistance while maintaining
confidentialityAbility to cultivate and sustain relationships with
