SUMMARY
The WorkPlace's MaturityWorks Demo initiative provides a
comprehensive worker-centered strategy designed to train mature
individuals for careers in the healthcare sector. Career Navigator
will provide comprehensive case management to assigned individuals
with multiple barriers to employment utilizing career assessment,
planning, and placement activities. This position will refer
qualified participants to employers and conduct necessary
follow-up. The Career Navigator establishes and performs activities
to develop and secure job interviews, placements, and/or
internships opportunities with employers and facilitate
participant-employer connections. Career Navigator will design and
guide strategies to establish and maintain relationships with
employers and promote the services provided by the program. This
position will be responsible for coordinator on the job training
(OJTs) for participants. Additionally, this position will provide
supportive services to participants to assist in their
employment/retention of employment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Provide comprehensive case management and career counseling
services to participants, including assessments, workshop
attendance, occupational training options and enrollment in
training, monitoring, and resume writing.
Analyze participants' skills, interests, and aptitudes for various
professions to assist them in making the right healthcare career
choices.
Counsel participants in career planning and job search strategies
while facilitating the creation of viable long-term career
goals.
Develop job search strategies and marketing materials to support
enrolled participants with job search efforts.
Conduct mock interviews and assist students with the creation of
resumes and cover letters.
Develop partnerships with employers and education and training
providers, to facilitate delivery of program services and assure
positive outcomes for participants.
Follow up with clients to assess their job-seeking, resume writing,
and interview progress.
Maintain participant records to include eligibility documents,
assessment forms, referral logs and other documents as
required.
Identify employment opportunities and supervise program
participants with the job search process, including job matching,
job fairs, networking and other related employment workshops.
Research, recruit and secure available employment opportunities
with businesses promoting the services available through the
program.
Provide follow-up services to participants that have completed
training services maintaining their connection to the program until
they have achieved their job placement.
Research job market and employment trends and stay connected to the
local American Job Center.
Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for own work. May occasionally instruct or show another
employee how to perform work.
QUALIFICATIONS

Experience or interest in training, counseling, and/or case
management in the healthcare industry.
Experience in sales and/or human resources, placement, and career
development.
Ability to work with and support a diverse customer base.
Ability to motivate and establish a supportive professional
relationship with participants.
Commitment to assisting low-income and disadvantaged individuals in
overcoming barriers to achievement and success in their personal
and work lives.
Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication
skills.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a four-year college and/or
three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent
combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,
operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
COMPUTER SKILLS
The ability to understand more advanced computer skills and be
proficient in the advanced knowledge of software such as Microsoft
Office as well as data management systems.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Multilingual preferred.
