  • Adult Psych RN Eves & EOW - 40hrs.
  • Unit Name: Epstein 4 - Adult Psych.
  • Brief Unit Description: 30-bed Adult Unit, ages 18-65 years. We treat patients with diverse types of mental health issues (anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and dual diagnosis patients: detox here on the unit while treating mental health issues), and some medically acute patients (IVs, CPAPs, Wound Care, diabetic care).
  • Years of Experience Required: 2 years minimum of inpatient adult psych experience.
  • Skill Sets Required: Proficient in using automatic medication dispensing system (Omni Cell); proficient in electronic health records documentation, preferably EPIC; proficient in the use of psychotropic medications and side effects; Able to assume the role of charge nurse; Able to complete admissions and discharges; Competent in the use of IV pumps; Competent in care of a diabetic patient.
  • Clinician to Patient Ratio: 1 RN to 7 or 8 patients.
  • Patient Population: Adult 18 to 65 years of age.
  • Bed Count: 30.
  • EMR (Charting System): EPIC.
  • Floating Required: Yes.
  • Rotating Shifts Required: Yes for Day Rotate, (7a-7p, 11a-11p, 7p-7a). No more than 2-3 shifts per time block and typically not for more than 1 or 2 time blocks (4 week blocks). Nights position does not rotate.

    • Certification in De-escalation
    • 2 years minimum of inpatient adult psych experience.

      • Rotating Shifts Required: Yes for Day Rotate, (7a-7p, 11a-11p, 7p-7a). No more than 2-3 shifts per time block and typically not for more than 1 or 2 time blocks (4 week blocks). Nights position does not rotate.

          • AVADE training offered on-site as well as lead EKG training.
          • Knowledge of the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health rules and regulations.
          • Rights of inpatient requirements related to restraint and seclusion, legal statuses.
          • Knowledge of laws pertaining to guardianship, healthcare proxy (invoked vs confirmed) and court ordered Medication.
