Job DescriptionDewberry is currently seeking to expand our water/wastewater services in Boston, MA and is seeking a Water/Wastewater Senior Project Manager. The ideal candidate will have technical, managerial, and market access responsibilities to lead the execution of project work and assist in business strategy to develop new client work, while helping to maintain existing client relationships. The candidate will strategically identify opportunities and plan/implement prepositioning activities to position Dewberry favorably for selection. The candidate will develop and leverage relationships to position Dewberry to perform water/wastewater projects across the northeast. The candidate will manage, support and execute a range of civil engineering wastewater, stormwater, potable water and resilience projects for municipal and some private clients and will support and/or supervise department project management, engineering and technical staff operations. The candidate will work with Dewberry leadership across the Water Service Line to advance our water/wastewater/stormwater/resilience practices across our targeted geographies.This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and talented individual to join a team of outstanding professionals. The successful candidate will be an engineer with a diverse background and experience in developing and executing water and wastewater treatment, conveyance, storage, and pumping projects.Responsibilities

  • Applies thorough knowledge and expertise of current principles and practices of engineering acquired through progressive experience to resolve crucial issues and/or project challenges.
  • Plans, schedules, coordinates and performs the preparation of engineering assessments, preliminary designs, and the preparation of design documents and activities for multiple projects.
  • Ensures quality of own work and the work of others, while maintaining budget and schedule.
  • Takes over management of select existing projects, monitors scope, schedules and budget of projects.
  • Plans and conducts/coordinates quality control for technical assignments.
  • Supports management of existing clients.
  • Manages existing department staff including workload planning, skills development and professional mentoring/development.
  • Participates in personnel decisions and manages personnel.
  • Visits clients, job sites and consultant offices, as needed, to support project and business development goals.
  • Develops and implements business plan to deliver growth of water, wastewater, stormwater and resilience business in the northeast.
  • Conducts prepositioning and business development activities. Identifies opportunities at Federal, municipal, state, private and other entities and collaborates with existing team to pursue, secure and deliver assignments and develop long term relationships with those entities.
  • Drives preparation of high quality proposals for submittal on competitive and sole source pursuits. Creates scope of work, schedules, and budgets for projects/proposals.
  • Coordinates, collaborates and communicates across Dewberry's national Water Service Line. Supports regional/national technical and business development efforts.
  • Develops knowledge of all Dewberry offerings and supports cross selling of full suite of services to existing and potential/new clients.
  • Identifies potential needs for new skills and/or strategic hiring where appropriate, and supports recruiting efforts.
  • Supports identification and vetting of potential acquisition targets.
  • Communicates and coordinates market development efforts and ideas.
  • Increases Dewberry's visibility in the public sector water business through active participation in national, state and local professional and community organizations.
  • Supports branding activities of Dewberry services and ongoing public exposure.
  • Be prepared to leverage existing relationships outside of Dewberry's client portfolio, to deliver growth opportunities.Required Skills & Required Experience
    • B.S. Degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering, or related field.
    • Massachusetts Professional Engineering license.
    • 15+ years' consulting experience, with increasing levels of project and client responsibilities for public sector water and wastewater projects.
    • A minimum of 10 years of project and client management experience.
    • A recognized area of technical expertise is a plus.
    • Successful track record of building client relationships in the water and wastewater field, with a reputation for being highly responsive and delivering quality work.
    • A successful track record of managing projects scope, schedule and budget compliance.
    • Proven experience with the planning, design and construction of water and wastewater infrastructure facilities.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong client management and business development skills.
    • Strong leadership qualities and ability to coach and mentor staff.
