About the Organization:
The Division of Occupational Licensure (DOL), an agency within the
Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation (OCABR),
protects consumers by ensuring that the professionals they hire
comply with state licensing laws. DOL oversees 26 boards of
registration, which license and regulate more than 500,000
individuals and businesses to practice over 100 trades and
professions. DOL also licenses and regulates the Office of Public
Safety and Inspections (OPSI), and the Office of Private
Occupational Schools.
The mission of DOL is to protect the public health, safety, and
welfare by licensing qualified individuals and businesses to
provide services to consumers. It is also the duty of the DOL to
ensure fair and consistent enforcement of the licensing laws and
regulations. DOL seeks to promote consumer protection, a fair and

About the Role:
The Public Safety Boards Unit ("Unit") is one of DOL's
administrative units and oversees the Board of Building Regulations
and Standards ("BBRS") and its subcommittees. The Unit's mission
includes drafting and revising the Massachusetts Building Code,
developing building and safety standards, licensing professionals,
and ensuring the integrity of trades and professions through fair
enforcement of applicable rules and regulations. The Executive
Director ("ED") will lead the administration and regulatory
functions of the Unit, collaborating with the BBRS and its
subcommittees. This role requires strong knowledge or interest in
building standards, public safety, fire codes, energy, and climate
resilience.
The ED will supervise professional and/or administrative staff,
managing, training, and evaluating them. Given the breadth of
expertise required, the ED must be a versatile manager and an
expert in establishing operating policies and supervising
services.

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have at least six (6) years of professional,
administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience, with at
least two (2) years in a project management or supervisory
capacity.
